A Service Awards Ceremony took place on September 19th at Cabrini Apartments in New York City to thank four dedicated employees who were celebrating milestone years of service:
Orlando Vargas, Porter – Ten Years
Michael Andrews, Superintendent – Fifteen Years
Philip Deans, Manager – Fifteen Years
Maria Leah Alerta Lee, Resident Coordinator – Forty Years
Following opening words by Patricia Krasnausky, President and CEO, awardees were presented with service pins and a blessing by Fr. Ron Galt, Vice President of Mission and Pastoral Care.
Maria Leah Alerta Lee (Leah) has a long history with the Cabrini Missions in New York City – Cabrini Medical Center, Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Cabrini Care at Home and Cabrini Apartments – totaling 40 years! Her retirement was part of the celebration which ended with the presentation of an engraved clock and lunch at Eleni’s Restaurant.

Recently, Philip Deans, the manager of the Cabrini Apartments on E. 19th Street in Manhattan paid the MSCs at the Sacred Heart Convent a visit.
Cabrini Apartments in New York City, a 71 unit HUD Section 202 supportive housing development for elders in conjunction with Eye Care Billing Consultants (ECBC) offered free eye exams to its tenants. Twenty percent of the occupants took advantage of this offer, and for many it was the first eye exam they had received in many years.
