On Saturday, June 10th Cabrini Immigrant Services of NYC held our first fundraiser event since 2019. We were overjoyed to see so many familiar faces after almost 4 years, as well as many new faces joining us to learn about and support our work.
We hosted nearly 200 guests on the lawn of the St. Frances Cabrini Shrine in Washington Heights, where we shared a delicious meal, enjoyed performances, posed in front of the photobooth, and celebrated our honorees. Our guests enjoyed a performance by Kinding Sindaw (a nonprofit dance theater company working to assert, preserve, reclaim, and re-create the traditions of dance, music, martial arts, storytelling, and orature of the indigenous peoples of Mindanao, Southern Philippines) and danced the night away to the music of La Cumbiamba eNeYé.
Our Executive Director, Javier Ramirez-Baron, shared about CIS-NYC’s impact over the past year and our staff and board presented the Heart of Cabrini award to our five incredible honorees: Sr. Yolanda Flores, MSC, Assemblymember Steven Raga, Sara Valenzuela, Felipe Ministro, and Juan Marmol (learn more about them here: www.cis-nyc.org/celebrate-honorees).
Not only was it a beautiful and joy-filled evening, but we nearly doubled our fundraising goal! Thank you to all who joined us and to our incredible event sponsors (link to: www.cis-nyc.org/celebrate-sponsors).
