High School’s Foreign Language Department once again earned top honors at the 42nd Annual Southeastern Louisiana University Foreign Language Festival in Hammond, Louisiana. Twenty-nine students represented Cabrini, competing in French and Spanish across multiple categories, including extemporaneous speaking, recitation, native speaker translation, music, theatre, and dance. Their outstanding performances resulted in numerous top placements.
In French, Cabrini students secured six first-place finishes. Cabrini’s students also showcased their talents in the arts, earning second place in both French Music and French Theatre, while first place in French Native Speaker Translation further highlighted their excellence.
In Spanish, Cabrini students continued their strong tradition of success, earning four first-place awards. The Spanish Dance and Spanish Music teams also impressed, each securing second-place finishes, while Cabrini students delivered an outstanding performance in Spanish Theatre.
These achievements would not have been possible without the dedication of Loreque Colimon (French), Deborah Alvarenga ’16 (Spanish), Maria Valle (Spanish), and Vivian Coutin, longtime Spanish teacher and department chair. Their commitment to fostering language skills and the celebration of vibrant cultures around the world continues to inspire Cabrini students.
Congratulations to all our participants on a fantastic showing! Viva Cabrini!
