Current ministry:
Currently, I am doing translation for the Generalate and the Stella Maris Province. I am also working in communications. As a missionary I have been in Brazil, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Italy and England.
What attracted me to a life as a Missionary Sister:
The example of the MSCs. At first, I did not know their congregation; I was not sure about them. However, through a local school near my home where they taught, I did get to know them well. I liked the openness of the sisters who welcomed people. I felt welcome. They were normal – easy to be with. I liked the missionary aspect of their lives.
Experience that convinced me that religious life was the right path for me:
I went on mission with the Missionary Sisters. I like to help people and seeing the needs of the people and the feeling of what I got in return. I discovered that I wanted to be a teacher.
Favorite prayer or scriptural quote:
Jesus is the eternal one. Jesus is forever young.
Favorite way to pray:
It depends on how I feel; what my needs are at a particular time.
Blessings and challenges of community life:
Among the blessings are the richness of tongues and that charity unites us. It is a blessing that we can live together. At the same time, our differences can present challenges.
What I love most about being an MSC:
Everything!
Best loved ministry:
Teaching.
What I do for enjoyment – hobbies and interests:
Drawing, painting, music.
People might be surprised to know that I:
Dream of a mission for immigrants at the Mexican border in Arizona, where we would serve children in particular.
My advice for those who are in discernment:
To follow your heart.
Favorite resources that I would recommend for those in discernment:
The Cabrini Travels is a great resource. Mother Cabrini is a contemplative woman – her search for God is inspiring.
